Autoterm Air 4D Diesel parking heater
Autoterm Air 4D diesel air heaters have become indispensable in campervans, motorhomes and expedition vehicles. They are designed for continuous operation and are extremely safe and reliable. With low fuel and power consumption, they heat small and large touring vehicles both on land and on the water in a way that is easy to set up. Thanks to the existing E-mark, the installation of the heater does not require any approval or registration. The Autoterm Air 4D (4 kw) and smaller 2D (2 kw) heaters, are available for vehicles with 12 volts as well as with 24 volts on-board voltage. A touring vehicle equipped with Autoterm Air is not only perfectly equipped for the cold European winters - higher altitudes are also no problem. With previous parking heaters, lower air pressure quickly led to soot ignition in the combustion chamber. Meanwhile, however, the Autoterm Air 4D has been equipped with an altitude kit for some time. It regulates the amount of diesel injected, depending on the ambient air pressure, completely independently and always appropriately downwards.
Control panel PU-27
The PU-27 control panel is easy to use and allows precise adjustment of the vehicle interior temperature, fan speed and system operating mode. The PU-27 control panel has an LCD display, which makes it easy to read temperature values and other system parameters. The panel is also equipped with function keys that allow the selection of the system's operating mode and the setting of the temperature level. In addition, the PU-27 control panel allows the battery charge status and the fuel level in the tank to be monitored. In this way, the AUTOTERM system user has full control over the operation of the blowing parking heater system and can adapt it to their individual needs and requirements. The PU-27 control panel is normally installed in an easily accessible location, such as the vehicle dashboard. The panel is compact and ergonomically shaped for easy operation.
Attention
Even with the altitude kit, operating a diesel parking heater (like a diesel engine in a car) is a technical compromise. After a certain period of time, you have to make sure that the combustion chamber gets very hot again and that you can burn the heater from soot deposits. Sooting cannot be completely avoided even with an altitude kit. If you actually spend a few weeks at 2,500 m altitude, cleaning the combustion chamber and replacing the seals is possible. Slow burning in the heating is the most important and also the only necessary maintenance of the heating. Planting generally occurs when the heating is running at low power or is frequently switched on and off. Therefore, the heating should be run at full power for half an hour every 1 or at the latest 2 weeks to clean the combustion chamber. You probably know what happens when you drive a diesel car at low revs! Exactly the same thing happens in your diesel parking heater. After a decent drive on the motorway, it's fine again - as long as you don't wait too long.
Air intake and hot air outlet
In such extreme conditions, the free flow of air through the fan is particularly important. If you want to travel such distances, it is best to install a very simple hot air distributor - short and without many bends. The combustion air inlet and outlet should be extremely short and low resistance. Avoid kinks, blockages and reductions.
Remote control
The heater has an input on the wiring harness for an emergency switch, which is often used for its own remote controls. Only two wires need to be connected using switches or relays. There are two possibilities for control. First: continuously. In this case, the heating starts and runs until the connection is broken again. Second: With a pulse. In this case, a pulse of 0.5-3 s can be used to switch on. The next pulse switches the heating off again. The advantage of the second variant is that the heating can be controlled using different operating elements. For example, it can be switched on using a self-built remote control or button and then the power level can be adjusted, or it can be switched off from the bed using a control element.

Note
The fuel line included in the kit is usually sufficient. If the hose proves to be too short you can order it by the metre.
Installation
Installation can also be carried out by a layman. Therefore, you are not obliged to have your parking heater installed by a workshop. The installation must be carried out professionally and in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions.
Autoterm Air 4D: Do you need that much heating power?
This is the Autoterm Air 4D with a heating output of 4 kW. The Autoterm Air is also available in a 2D version with a heating power of 2 kW in 12 V or 24 V versions. Which heating is right for you depends on your travel habits, your goals and the insulation of your vehicle. The general rule of thumb is: more is not better - even if a heater with twice the power costs only slightly more! The 4 kW parking heater quickly turns smaller campervans and well-insulated vehicles into a sauna, even at the lowest setting. In this case, you have to open the window when heating, which is not only a complete waste, but also causes soot to build up more quickly in the heating system (see topic above).
When in doubt, choose a smaller heating system and run it on a higher setting, rather than always running the larger heating system on a lower setting.
