Autoterm Air 2D Diesel parking heater
Parking heaters from the manufacturer Autoterm, known by their former name Planar 2D, have become essential equipment in campervans, caravans and expedition vehicles. Designed for heavy-duty and continuous operation, they are particularly appreciated for their reliability and safety. Thanks to their low fuel consumption and power, as well as good controllability in various modes, they are suitable for touring vehicles both on land and water. All Autoterm parking heaters come with an E. This means that the installation of a parking heater does not require any approval or additional registration. It is suitable for any type of vehicle. The Autoterm Air 2D is available for vehicles with an on-board voltage of 12 volts, as well as for vehicles with 24 volts. All touring cars with Autoterm Air parking heaters are perfectly suited to low temperatures. In the past, a reduced oxygen supply in the combustion air quickly led to soot build-up in the combustion chamber. In the meantime, however, parking heaters have long been equipped with an altitude kit that regulates combustion. Depending on the ambient air pressure, the heater regulates the amount of fuel injected downwards completely independently. After our own successful tests at an altitude of 3440 m on the Pitztal glacier in Austria, the altitude kits went into series production. Even at this extreme altitude, the Air 2D altitude kit performed brilliantly. So you can be sure that your parking heater will not let you down, even under the most difficult conditions.
Control panel
Comfort Control: The new, improved control panel for the Autoterm / Planar parking heater. With three freely adjustable timers for any day of the week, extended heating modes (including thermostat mode), voltage monitoring and many other functions. Multifunction dial with pleasant-to-touch rubber coating and OLED display.Comfortable use, elegant design.
Note, however
Despite the altitude kit, running a diesel parking heater (just like a diesel engine in a car) is a technical compromise. In the long term, you have to ensure that the combustion chamber gets really hot so that it can burn freely. Otherwise, planting cannot be avoided even with an altitude kit.
Everything you need for an Autoterm parking heater installation 2D
-Autoterm "Extra Quiet" fuel pump
-Exhaust silencer (17 x 9 x 5 cm)
-Rubber metering pump holder
-Dosing pump wiring harness
-Heater wiring harness
-Intake air duct with integrated silencer -Exhaust air duct with integrated silencer
-Heat protection tube
-Exhaust pipe end + clamp
-Tank inlet pipe
-5.5 m fuel line
-Fuel line connector
-Corrugated sheet metal exhaust pipe 1m
-Screws, nuts, clamps, heat shrink tubing
-Cable ties
-Instruction manual
Note
The fuel line included in the kit is usually sufficient. If you find the cable too short you can order it by the metre.
Fuel tanks
These are available for fuelling with fuel that is not taken from the vehicle tank (e.g. in boats). In the case of road vehicles, it is essential to observe the regulations for auxiliary tanks! Installation can be carried out by a layman. Therefore, you are not obliged to have the parking heater installed by a workshop. Nevertheless, the installation must be carried out exactly in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions.
Autoterm Air 2D or 4D for double performance?
We would like to introduce you to the Autoterm Air 2D with a heating capacity of 2 kW. The Autoterm Air is also available in a 4D version with a heating capacity of 4 kW in either a 12V or 24V version. Which type of parking heater is right for you depends on your travel habits, your goals and the insulation of your vehicle. The 4 kW parking heater quickly turns smaller campervans into a sauna, even on the lowest setting, and you have to open the window when heating. Not only is this completely unnecessary, but it also causes soot to build up more quickly in your heating system (see topic above). When in doubt, choose a smaller heater and let it run on a higher setting, rather than always running the larger heater on a lower setting.
